About Getting Into AEDE

We encourage high school seniors to apply to Ohio State requesting direct entry into AEDE's Agribusiness and Applied Economics major or the Environment, Economy, Development, and Sustainabiilty major that AEDE offers jointly with Ohio State's School of Environment and Natural Resources.

We also encourage and actively welcome many transfer students who are from another university, who entered Ohio State undecided in major, who entered Ohio State declared in another program of study, who entered Ohio State through one of our regional campuses, or who entered Ohio State through the Agricultural Technical Institute based in Wooster, Ohio.

Direct Entry Requirements

All freshman applicants to Ohio State that request entry to the majors offered by AEDE are considered within a competitive admissions process for the Columbus campus. The primary criteria for admission are the completion of the applicant’s high school college preparatory program and a review of performance in that program.

Transfer Entry Requirements

Students may declare a major into one of AEDE's programs of study any time after admission to Ohio State. As a first semester freshman, no conditions exist for admission to the majors except eligible academic standing at Ohio State.

Additionally, students may transfer into one of the programs from Ohio State's regional campuses or from the Agricultural Technical Institute based in Wooster, OH. For information on how to transfer into one of our programs, please contact the College of Food Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at 614-292-6891
