  1. Students Offer Sustainability Solutions to Mayor Coleman’s Green Team

    Students in “Assessing Sustainability: Project Experience” (ENR 4567), which is co-taught by Elena Irwin and Gregory Hitzshusen, recently presented their research to the City of Columbus’ Mayor’s Green Team. The work conducted by the students will contribute to the development of the Green Team’s “Green Memo III” which is the city’s next five-year plan for sustainability that the Mayor will unveil in 2015. 

  2. AEDE to Partner on New Sustainability Learning Community with OSU Housing

    In Autumn 2014, a new Ohio State learning community, Students Understanding Sustainability and Taking Action to Improve Nature and Society (SUSTAINS), will launch on the Ohio State campus with support from AEDE. Students interested in becoming a member of the SUSTAINS Learning Community must complete a Learning Community Application by May 2, 2014. 

  3. Agribusiness Club Honors Professor Sheldon and Outstanding Students at Annual Banquet

    The Ohio State Agribusiness Club honored Professor Ian Sheldon and Club members Lauren Prettyman, Lindsay Hope, Derek Snider and Megan Harris at its year-end banquet held on April 14th. The event also featured a keynote address from guest speaker Dale Minyo, AEDE alum and co-founder and farm broadcaster for Ohio Ag Net. 

  4. Undergraduate Program to Offer Advising Sessions for Agribusiness and Applied Economics Majors

    In preparation for Autumn Semester 2014 class registration, the AEDE undergraduate program will offer walk-in advising sessions for students enrolled in the Agribusiness and Applied Economics major on Mar. 24, Mar. 27, Mar. 31, and Apr. 4. Students enrolled in the major are strongly encouraged to attend one of these sessions. Faculty and staff from AEDE will be present to meet one-on-one with students.

  5. New Class of CFAES Student Ambassadors Includes Two AEDE Undergrads

    Ohio State's College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) recently announced their new class of Student Ambassadors for the 2014-2015 academic year, which includes two students enrolled in AEDE’s Agribusiness and Applied Economics undergraduate degree program.  The students, Summer McCracken and Joshua Lees, will represent the college in a variety of ways.

  6. Four Department Graduates to Receive 2014 CFAES Alumni Awards

    This year, four graduates of AEDE’s programs have been selected by Ohio State’s College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences to receive alumni awards at a ceremony on March 1st at the Ohio Union. The alumni include Robert Hothem, Kevin Adams, Matthew Pullins, and Allison Specht.

  7. Department to Offer New Undergrad Agribusiness Project Experience Course

    Beginning in Autumn 2014, AEDE will offer its Agribusiness and Applied Economics undergrad students a new course focused on engaging with agribusinesses to solve real-world problems. The course, “AED Economics 4193: Agribusiness Project Experience”, will be taught jointly by Dr. Eugene Jones and Dr. Brian Roe.

  8. AEDE Launches New Student Service Center

    On Friday, January 24th, AEDE celebrated the opening of its new Student Service Center with an open house for students, faculty, staff, and partners. The Student Service Center provides academic support services to all undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in AEDE’s programs.

  9. AEDE to Launch Student Service Center in Early 2014

    Beginning in January 2014, AEDE’s undergraduate and graduate students will be able to visit one location to get support for all of their academic needs. The AEDE Student Service Center, the first of its kind for the department, will be housed in Suite 249 of the Ag Admin building and will service enrolled and prospective students.

    In preparation for Spring Semester 2014 class registration, the AEDE undergraduate program will offer walk-in advising sessions for students enrolled in the Agribusiness and Applied Economics major on Oct. 25, Oct. 28, Nov. 1, and Nov. 4.
