  1. Sheldon Wins Quality of Communication Award at the 2012 Agricultural & Applied Economics Association (AAEA) Annual Meeting

    Ian Sheldon, Andersons Professor of International Trade, was awarded the Quality of Communication Award at the 2012 Agricultural & Applied Economics Association (AAEA) Annual Meeting held in Seattle, Washington from August 12-14. Sheldon, Colin A. Carter from the University of California, Davis, and GianCarlo Moschini from Iowa State University were awarded for their work on the publication Genetically Modified Food and Global Welfare, which the three co-edited.

    At the NCCC-134 Conference on Applied Commodity Price Analysis, Forecasting, and Market Risk Management held April 16 and 17 in St. Louis, Missouri, Cameron Thraen and John Newton presented “Road Block to Risk Management - How Federal Milk Marketing Orders Create Excessive Basis Risk on Class 1 Milk,” and “Exploring Underlying Distributional Assumptions of Livestock Gross Margin Insurance for Dairy,” co-authored with Marin Bozic, Applied Economics, University of Minnesota.

  6. AEDE Awards $59,000 in Scholarships for 2012-2013 Academic Year

    Thanks to the generosity of our donors, $59,000 in scholarships were awarded to 25 undergraduate students in the Department of Agricultural, Environmental, and Development Economics for the 2012-2013 academic year. Congratulations to our scholarship recipients!

  7. 2012 Agribusiness/NAMA Club Annual Banquet Honorees

    The 2012 Agribusiness/NAMA Club Annual Banquet was held on Thursday, April 5th, at The Fawcett Center on the OSU Columbus campus.   A number of awards were presented. Shannon Horn received the Outstanding Senior award. The Outstanding First Year Member went to Levi Morrow and Kristin Kugler was named Outstanding Transfer Student. Barry Ward, club advisor, was chosen as Outstanding Professor.

    The College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences Alumni Society held their annual Alumni Awards Luncheon on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at the Fawcett Center of Tomorrow.  Congratulations to the following AEDE alumni award recipients!

    Blaine Crosser, Distinguished Alumni Award, for 33 years of exceptional service and leadership at Select Sires, Inc, and for his dedication in developing and improving the Guernsey breed.

  9. Agricultural Economics among 10 college majors with lowest unemployment rates

    According to data from the Georgetown Center on Education and the Workforce, 98.7% of college graduates who majored in Agricultural Economics are currently employed.  Of the 10 college majors with the lowest unemployment rates, Agricultural Economics ranks 7th.

  10. Zulauf speaks at Farm Foundation Forum in Washington DC

    Carl Zulauf was a presenter at the Farm Foundation Forum held on October 11th at the National Press Club in Washington DC. The forum focused on the future role of the federal government in agricultural risk management. A video tape will be available on the Farm Foundation website.
