He retired from Ohio State in 2007 and recently completed a five year appointment teaching in Taiwan. During the last four years he has been leading farmers in protest of Taipower, a monopoly power company, over the construction of a high voltage electric power line (HVEPL) through his village in Taiwan. He is writing a book on this activity. He is also working on several papers related to the impact of HVEPL on farm land prices, country of origin labeling, and human capital formation contributed by student migrants from Taiwan to the United States.
