Sydney is a Ph.D. student in AED Economics at The Ohio State University whose research interests lie at the intersection of regional and urban economics, labor economics, and the economics of education. She is on the 2020-2021 job market, and her job market paper, “Does Gentrification Stop at the Schoolhouse Door? Evidence from New York City," examines the effect of gentrification on local public elementary schools in New York City. One arm of her research focuses on understanding the labor market payoffs to college coursework, and a second arm explores how local labor market conditions and incentives in metropolitan areas affect new business formation and residential location choice.
