Eugene Jones ' primary research focuses on the use of supermarket scanner data to examine differences in purchasing behavior of lower- and higher-income consumers. Product categories of current research include fruits and vegetables, meats, and cheese. Additional research includes: developing game-theoretic frameworks to examine pricing competition among supermarket chains; and developing and estimating market power studies of the U.S. frozen potato market and the export market for bananas. Studies useing supermarket scanner data have focused on breakfast cereals, cooking oils, milk, pasta, potatoes and rice. Jones serves on the Advisory Committee for the Vice Provost for Minority Affairs and he is a member of the Produce for Better Health Foundation.
