She chairs the Farm Income Enhancement Program and conducts research and outreach on U.S. agricultural economics issues. Her research areas include agricultural finance, agribusiness management and marketing, and applied econometrics, focusing on USDA forecasts and baselines, farm performance, and agricultural lending. Her research has been published in leading journals such as the American Journal of Agricultural Economics, Applied Economic Perspectives and Policy, Journal of the Agricultural and Applied Economics Association, Agricultural Finance Review, and Agribusiness: An International Journal and her research has been supported by over $2.3 million in grants. She has received two Outstanding Research Awards and one Publication of Lasting Impact Award from the Agricultural Finance and Management section of the Agricultural and Applied Economics Association. She teaches courses in agribusiness finance and applied econometrics and has previously taught courses in financial management and statistics. Her research-based outreach program focuses on farm income and finance and farmland loss and preservation. Her PhD students and postdocs have been placed in land-grant universities, government, and industry. Ani Katchova is an Associate Editor for Agricultural Finance Review and an editorial board member for Applied Economic Perspectives and Policy and Agribusiness: An International Journal. Previously, she served as an Executive Board Director for the Agricultural and Applied Economics Association, an associate editor for the American Journal of Agricultural Economics, an editorial board member for the Journal of Agricultural and Applied Economics, a chair of the Agricultural Finance Regional Committee, and a chair for a review panel for the USDA-ERS Farm Income and Wealth Forecast Program. She completed a sabbatical with USDA conducting research on agricultural baselines projections. She was AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellow and Visiting Scholar at the Economic Research Service at USDA and received the Bruce Gardner Outstanding Visiting Economist Award. She was also a Fulbright Specialist Scholar in Austria. She holds the honorary title of Kentucky Colonel. She is the founder and instructor of the Econometrics Academy, offering world-wide education on econometrics. She holds a Ph.D. from The Ohio State University and was a faculty member at University of Illinois and University of Kentucky prior to returning to her alma mater.
