Ana Claudia Sant’Anna is a Postdoctoral Researcher in Agribusiness within the Department of Agricultural, Environmental, and Development Economics at The Ohio State University. She is also a team member with the Farm Income Enhancement Program supervised by Professor Ani Katchova. Her areas of specialization are bioenergy economics and agribusiness.
Ana Claudia earned her Ph.D. from the Department of Agricultural Economics at Kansas State University. Her dissertation analyzed market structures and public policies, contract relationships and firm strategic decisions related to the biofuel expansion in Brazil. Ana Claudia’s current research interests include land values, credit availability, and the interaction of these issues with beginning farmers. These topics include papers on farmland value volatility, on the impact of ethanol plant location on farmer’s revenue and on the relationship between farmland value and credit availability. Data used in her research come from the USDA's Agricultural Resource Management Survey (ARMS), the Agricultural Census, the Federal Reserve’s Ag Credit Survey, as well as, various regional economic indicators. Ana Claudia has participated in the outreach program of the Farm Income Enhancement Program by contributing to the AEDE Agricultural Outlook and through presentations at the Community Engagement Conference and at the 2018 Farm Science Review “Ask the Expert”.
Ana Claudia has published articles in journals such as, Agribusiness, Biomass & Bioenergy, International Food and Agribusiness Management and Applied Economics. She has also received a number of awards such as the Excellence in Review Awards in 2018 from Resources, Conservation & Recycling, the University Distinguished Professors Graduate Student Award from Kansas State University and, the CNPq Brazilian National Award for Outstanding Performance in Initiation into Scientific Research. Together with two other graduate students, she won first place AEM/GSS Case Study Competition at the AAEA Annual Meeting in 2015. Prior to AEDE, Ana Claudia taught a Math Camp for incoming graduate students, a Computer Decision Tools for Agribusiness to freshmen, and Environmental Project Analysis. She has been a teaching assistant in undergraduate Econometrics and Natural Resource Economics classes.
