From a new master’s degree program to university-wide recognition for our faculty members holding endowed chairs; from an innovative outreach program started by one of our star faculty members to research findings that show Ohio lagging the nation in small business and entrepreneurship growth; from a new and innovative public-private partnership providing students with the opportunity to work on real problems proposed by real businesses to our outstanding faculty summarizing some of the key issues in the upcoming presidential election as only applied economists can do; this month’s AEDE newletter provides a glimpse at the breadth of programs, expertise and reach that has established AEDE as a model department of applied economics worldwide.
I hope you enjoy learning a little more about what is going on in your department, AEDE, and as always, if there is ever anything we can do to help you, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. These are tumultuous, and some might say crazy, times. It is encouraging to me to see that our universities (and AEDE) can serve as a place for open and honest dialogue, combined with forward-looking educational experiences for students to help bridge some of the gaps that have been identified in the current election cycle. It is my firm belief that education will provide the foundation for closing the growing rifts.
We wish you all the best, and welcome your reactions to what is happening in your department, AEDE.
