  1. Sheldon Wins Quality of Communication Award at the 2012 Agricultural & Applied Economics Association (AAEA) Annual Meeting

    Ian Sheldon, Andersons Professor of International Trade, was awarded the Quality of Communication Award at the 2012 Agricultural & Applied Economics Association (AAEA) Annual Meeting held in Seattle, Washington from August 12-14. Sheldon, Colin A. Carter from the University of California, Davis, and GianCarlo Moschini from Iowa State University were awarded for their work on the publication Genetically Modified Food and Global Welfare, which the three co-edited.

  7. Partridge discusses spatial policy in Italy

    Mark Partridge met with the Geographical Society of Italy to discuss spatial policy making and to bridge gaps between researchers in geography and economics.  He also presented "Central Place Theory: New Wine for Old Bottles" at La Sapienza University in Rome.
  8. Southgate named associate director of Subsurface Energy Resource Center (SERC)

    Douglas Southgate, professor of Agricultural, Environmental and Development Economics, has been named associate director of the Subsurface Energy Resource Center (SERC) at OSU, effective July 1, 2012. Jeffrey Daniels, professor in the School of Earth Sciences, will serve as director.

    The center, established in 2011, serves as a unbiased source of experts in the area of underground energy sources and related environmental and socioeconomics issues for citizens, businesses, and policymakers.

  10. First International Workshop on Regional, Urban and Spatial Economics in China held in Guangzhou

    Mark Partridge co-organized the first International Workshop on Regional, Urban and Spatial Economics in China held at Jinan University in Guangzhou, China June 15-16. Mark gave the keynote speech, "Space Matters: The China and U.S. Case." It was attended by 50 academics and will be held next year in Beijing at Peking University.
