[COLUMBUS]

Dr. Amy Ando, Professor and Chair of the Agricultural, Environmental, and Development Economics, continues to represent the department on a national level, providing economic expertise on key topics.

Dr. Ando recently participated as a panelist in a livestreamed, virtual White House Roundtable on “Advancing the Frontiers of Benefit-Cost Analysis: Progress on Federal Priorities, Insights for The Research Community, And Emerging Topics".

As a member of the National Academies’ Board on Agriculture and Natural Resources, Dr. Ando was also invited to attend “The Climate Underground”, a small private conference for leading farmers, scientists, entrepreneurs, chefs, researchers, policymakers, and other experts to explore the intersection between soil health, food, and healthy communities.

Most recently, she traveled to Washington D.C. to participate in the “Statistics for Environmental-Economic Decisions Valuation Roundtable”.

Participation in national discussions allow economists to bring research, data and theoretical framework to policy debates. It ensures that national discussions are grounded in analysis and evidence. It also helps bridge the gap between academia and practice and provides an opportunity to educate the public and policymakers about economic issues.
