Environmental Policy Initiative Launches Summer Grant Competition

May. 5, 2014
Ohio State's Environmental Policy Initiative, which is led by AEDE's Professor Brent Sohngen, launched its Summer 2014 grant competition today.

The program offers research grants for Ohio State graduate students preparing doctoral dissertation proposals for work in environmental policy. Recipients receive an award of $4,000 for the entire summer.

Any doctoral student planning to write a PhD on any aspect of environmental policy, and expecting to take the PhD candidacy (general) exam by the Spring Semester of the next academic year (2015), is eligible to apply. Up to 3 awards will be offered in summer 2014, starting on June 1, 2014.

The award of $4,000 for the summer can be used in any way by the student, but does not include a tuition or fee waiver. Departments may supplement the stipend at their discretion. The student applicant and the dissertation advisor should collaborate on the proposal. The proposal should contain:

  • A brief biosketch of the graduate student applicant including full name, department, expected graduation date, and name and department of the student's advisor;
  • A CV
  • A maximum 3 page proposal describing the work to be undertaken (excluding references)
Awards will be determined by a panel of faculty members and past award winners.

All information must be submitted electronically to sohngen.1@osu.edu by Friday, May 16th, 2014
