Dr. Allen Klaiber and the graduate program committee awarded PhD Candidate Bunny Xu the 2019 Bernie Erven Teaching Award. This award is presented annually to the graduate student who best exemplifies the tradition of teaching excellence that Bernie Erven achieved throughout his distinguished career as a professor in Agricultural, Environmental, and Development Economics.
Xu was nominated by Dr. Brian Roe for her exceptional performance and dedication supporting AEDECON 2005 as both a TA, Lab Instructor and Lead Instructor. Student feedback in SEIs was consistently glowing, mentioning Bunny’s helpful nature and ability to prepare students well to master material in the class. Her dedication to student success and passion for teaching were evident to many of her students in class.
Dr. Roe added in his nomination that she “was quite conscientious, providing really helpful tactical tips and ideas during my inaugural offering of the course” while assisting with AEDECON 4003. We express our thanks to Bunny for her efforts in support of our students and the Department!
