On Friday, January 24th, AEDE celebrated the opening of its new Student Service Center with an open house for students, faculty, staff, and partners.
At the event Dr. Tim Haab, AEDE Professor and Department Chair, gave the opening remarks.
He noted, "This project has been a year and a half in the making, we’re proud to see it come to fruition. The Student Service Center is a place where all AEDE students, whether in an undergraduate program, graduate program, or interdisciplinary program, can get answers. This is a resource for students to get involved with the department.”
Dr. Linda Martin, Associate Dean of Academic Services in the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) also spoke. CFAES helped to fund the project.
“In the college, we’ve always talked about ‘students first’, which is not just about serving students in the classroom, but serving their needs in a number of ways. I appreciate the fact that AEDE is committed to student success and has opened a center to assist students. Studies show that the number one reason why students stay in a program and go on to graduate is due to a personal relationship with someone in their academic department or university who helps to guide the way. The Student Service Center will help students succeed as it serves as this connection,” Dr. Martin said.
The AEDE Student Service Center provides academic support services to all undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in AEDE’s programs. The Center serves as a one-stop shop for all students and should be the first point of contact for students for obtaining help with their academic questions and needs.
Student Service Center staff are able to help students navigate their program’s curriculum, schedule classes, access and complete mandatory forms, access campus resources, declare majors and minors, as well as obtain general information about AEDE’s programs.
The Center is located in Suite 249 of the Agricultural Administration Building and is staffed during normal working hours Monday through Friday.
Appointments can be made with a Student Service Center representative using the Center’s online forms:
