News article: Partridge discusses spatial policy in Italy
Mark Partridge met with the Geographical Society of Italy to discuss spatial policy making and to bridge gaps between researchers in geography and economics.  He also presented "Central Place Theory: New Wine for Old Bottles" at La Sapienza University in Rome.
News article: First International Workshop on Regional, Urban and Spatial Economics in China held in Guangzhou

Mark Partridge co-organized the first International Workshop on Regional, Urban and Spatial Economics in China held at Jinan University in Guangzhou, China June 15-16. Mark gave the keynote speech, "Space Matters: The China and U.S. Case." It was attended by 50 academics and will be held next year in Beijing at Peking University.

AEDE had a strong presence at the Western Regional Science Association (WRSA) meetings, held February 8-11 in Kauai, Hawaii.

News article: AEDE Faculty and Graduate Students Participate in 2011 NARSC conference in Miami
AEDE was well represented at the North American Regional Science Council conference in Miami, Florida, held November 9-12.   Alessandra Faggian and Heather Stephens organized 9 special sessions on economic development that were some of the most attended sessions at the conference. A number of papers from these sessions will form a special issue of the International Regional Science Review will be co-edited by Faggian and Stephens.

Mark Partridge co-organized the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and Journal of Regional Science Workshop on Immigration and the Firm/Immigration and Urban Issues: Crime, Consumption Varieties, Housing on Nov. 7-8, bringing together the world’s foremost immigration scholars to discuss the leading issues. Papers will be included in a special issue of the Journal of Regional Science.
