2022 - 60th Anniversary

The 2022 Farm Science Review (FSR) was held from Sept. 20 - 22. Tickets will go on sale July 1. The 2022 Farm Science Review held the 60th anniversary of FSR with 100,000 visitors from all over the United States and Canada. Spectators watched 4,000 product lines from 600 commercial exhibitors and learn the latest in agricultural production. 

The educational programs at FSR featured Ohio State specialists, with AEDE faculty also providing their expertise and knowledge to attendees in a variety of ways. Information on the annual educational panel hosted by AEDE, as well as AEDE faculty talks at the "Ask the Experts" sessions are below.

Tuesday, Sept. 20

10:20 am - 10:40 am: Are Ohio farms financially secure?
Expert: Ani Katchova, professor and chair of the Farm Income Enhancement Program
This talk will include recent updates in farm income forecasts and long-term projections released by USDA, and their implication for Ohio farms. We will also discuss recent statistics on ag loan delinquency rates and Chapter 12 bankruptcy rates for Ohio farms and also provide an outlook for future financial performance of Ohio farms.
 

12:40 pm - 1:00 pm: Outlook for agricultural trade in the shadow of the Russian invasion of Ukraine 
Expert: Ian Sheldon, professor and Andersons chair of agricultural marketing, trade and policy
Discussion on the outlook for global and U.S. agricultural trade, and impact on food prices and food security.

Wednesday, Sept. 21

11 am - 11:20 am: Grain market outlook
Expert: Seungki Lee, assistant professor

12:20 pm - 12:40 pm: Agricultural labor
Expert: Margaret Jodlowski, assistant professor
This talk will discuss trends in farm labor usage, including the size and composition of the workforce. It will also discuss wages for various positions on-farm and in the broader agricultural supply chain. Finally, there will be information about broader labor market trends.

Thursday, Sept. 22

11:40 am - Noon: Agricultural labor
Expert: Margaret Jodlowski, assistant professor
This talk will discuss trends in farm labor usage, including the size and composition of the workforce. It will also discuss wages for various positions on-farm and in the broader agricultural supply chain. Finally, there will be information about broader labor market trends.

12:40 pm - 1 pm: Grain market outlook
Expert: Seungki Lee, assistant professor

 

Farm Science Review 2021

The 2021 Farm Science Review included a panel with our faculty and other partners - The Talk on Friday Avenue® “Carbon Markets: From all sides now.” The panel discussion looked at carbon markets from an economic, legal, agricultural and environmental perspective with the below speakers. It will be moderated by Ian Sheldon, CFAES professor and Andersons Chair of Agricultural Marketing.

  •  Peggy Hall, agricultural and resource law field specialist;
  • Luke Crumley, director of public policy and nutrient management for the Ohio Corn and Wheat Growers Association
