Our Two-Semester Master of Applied Economics Program teaches critical economics thinking, analytical and quantitative skills, and the ability to analyze data. Students receive frontier training in econometric techniques and cost benefit analysis, engage in a project with a corporate partner, and learn about leading data analytics software and statistical programming languages.

    AEDE and OSU Extension Winter Outlook Meetings - Winter 2021 Aaron Wilson with the Byrd Polar Climate Center and OSU Extension and Ben Brown, previously with the Department of Agricultural, Environmental, and Development Economics, will be hosting a climate and grain market outlook as Ohio producers start to make plans for 2021. Key points will cover the short-term outlook on Ohio and regional weather, long term season climate trends, grain market analysis, and marketing strategies.

    Enrollment for the Agriculture Risk Coverage (ARC) and Price Loss Coverage (PLC) programs for the 2021 crop year is currently open. The deadline to enroll and make amendments to program elections is March 15, 2021. Producers have the option to enroll covered commodities in either ARC-County, ARC-Individual, or PLC. These are the same program options that were available to producers during the 2019 and 2020 crop years, but in some cases, producers may want to amend program elections to better manage the potential risks facing their farms during the 2021 crop year.

    AEDE and OSU Extension Winter Outlook Meetings - Winter 2021 Dr. Ian Sheldon will present a trade outlook that will look at the effect of the pandemic on global trade and how that compares to its impact on both global and U.S. agricultural trade.  This will be followed by an evaluation of where we are on the Phase 1 Agreement with China, and what we might expect on trade policy from the incoming administration. Target Audience: Producers, Agribusiness, Non-Ag Citizens, Elected Officials

    The Ohio State community will celebrate the accomplishments of the Class of 2020 during a virtual commencement Dec. 13 at 2 p.m. The event will be livestreamed and shared with Buckeyes in Ohio and around the world. An in-person ceremony will be announced at a future date when it is safe to do so. Jerry Revish, an Emmy award-winning reporter and former broadcast news anchor in central Ohio, will be the commencement speaker. A pre-ceremony program featuring messages from graduates, deans and other university leaders from across our campuses will begin at 1:30 p.m. with the ceremony at 2 p.m.

    Hybrid courses offer unique opportunities for both instructors and students. Join us to explore design principles for hybrid courses that help students meet learning outcomes in effective and engaging ways. We will discuss the benefits and limitations of various instructional strategies and explore tools for supporting rich synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences in face-to-face and online components of a course. Additionally, we will address special considerations for teaching a hybrid course in Spring 2021, given the challenges of the pandemic.
