    Dr. Brian Roe will share about the economic, environmental and social implications of food waste; the implications of the COVID pandemic on household-level food waste; and learn about recent recommendations for reducing food waste among consumers proposed by the National Academy of Sciences.     Want to learn to combine economic intuition with data analysis? We can teach you how. Our Two-Semester Master of Applied Economics Program teaches critical economics thinking, analytical and quantitative skills, and the ability to analyze data. Students receive frontier training in econometric techniques and cost benefit analysis, engage in a project with a corporate partner, and learn about leading data analytics software and statistical programming languages.

    Enrollment for the Agriculture Risk Coverage (ARC) and Price Loss Coverage (PLC) programs for the 2021 crop year is currently open. The deadline to enroll and make amendments to program elections is March 15, 2021. Producers have the option to enroll covered commodities in either ARC-County, ARC-Individual, or PLC. These are the same program options that were available to producers during the 2019 and 2020 crop years, but in some cases, producers may want to amend program elections to better manage the potential risks facing their farms during the 2021 crop year.

Key points for will cover the short-term outlook on Ohio and regional weather, long term season climate trends, grain market analysis, and marketing strategies.

Professor Brent Sohngen will be presenting "Forests, climate change, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change: An example of the role of economics in interdisciplinary science." In this presentation, he’ll discuss a bit of research about forests and climate change and illustrate how economic analysis has played a vital role in public policy processes in these areas
