    This talk, co-hosted by the Department of Agricultural, Environmental, and Development Economics, the Ohio State Sustainability Institute and the CFAES Rattan Lal Center for Carbon Management and Sequestration, will discuss the evolution of the carbon offset market and the nature of the persistent quality challenges. The second half will discuss the potential role of universities and colleges in guiding the offset market through research-based procurement.

    The R Shiny framework by RStudio offers an easy yet powerful way to build interactive web applications using R. A shiny app is a great way to communicate research findings interactively with a broader audience without much additional effort. One can create highly effective shiny visualizations with little knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and countless other web technologies, making it an attractive option for economists. In this virtual session, we will introduce shiny and build a basic web app. All faculty and students are welcome to attend.
