    Sofia Berto Villas-Boas, Professor in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics at the University of California, Berkeley, will present "Retail Mergers and Food Prices".  The impact of a merger in the French supermarket industry on food prices will be discussed.  Villas-Boas' work analyzes the impact of a merger in the French supermarket industry on food prices. Using consumer panel data, we compare the changes in prices for merging and rival firms in affected and comparison markets.

This event is open to the public. RSVPs are not required.

    Becca Jablonski, Assistant Professor and Food Systems Extension Economist, Department of Agricultural & Resources Economics at Colorado State University will discuss her research on how local food projects reveal small positive community economic impacts.  Between 2009-2014 the U.S. Department of Agriculture funded over 40,000 local food projects primarily intended to support rural economic development and farm viability. Location: Agriculture Administration Building room 250A.  The seminar is co-hosted by the C. William Swank Program in Rural-Urban Policy.

    AEDE will host the RSAI 10th Annual Midwest Graduate Student Summit on Applied Economics and Regional Science (AERS) at the Nationwide and Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center on April 21-22, 2017. The summit is designed for graduate students to initiate intellectual dialogue on a wide array of research areas and spur future research collaborations among participating scholars in a welcoming environment. Work at any stage will be accepted, including completed research, research in progress, and research idea/proposal.

    The Scholarship Recognition Event will be held immediately prior to the Agribusiness Club/NAMA Recognition Banquet at 5:30pm. The event will begin in room 250A at 3:00pm with a networking session in recognition of our undergraduate Agribusiness and Applied Economics scholarship recipients. This event will be exclusive to scholarship recipients and donors and provides an opportunity to engage with our top tier Agribusiness and Applied Economics students. Light refreshments will be provided.
