The Master of Applied Economics (MAE) program is now accepting applications for Fall 2022. The MAE program is a two-semester professional degree that provides students with practical training in applied economics, focusing on core economic theory and cutting-edge quantitative methods. Graduates of the MAE program are equipped with applied economic techniques such as program evaluation, cost benefit analysis and econometric modeling.

The supply chain was highly likely to be vulnerable to the Covid-19 Pandemic, but around the world, governments and key supply-chain players have surprisingly been caught off guard. Rising inflation is the result and is plaguing economies around the world. The U.S. in particular has suffered from inflation rates not seen in four decades.

Dr. Ian Sheldon, professor and Andersons chair of agricultural marketing, trade and policy, will be serving as a panelist for an event hosted by the Department of Economics Advisory Board and Women in Economics, discussing the various career paths and practical uses of the field of international trade and policy.

Adoption by the US of “power-based” bargaining led to agricultural import commitments by China under the Phase 1 Trade Agreement.  Contracting directly over market access is superficially appealing, but evaluating whether China has met its import commitments must control for other shocks to demand and supply.
