A future challenge for agrifood firms is to embrace strategy that includes, at least conceptually, knowledge as a strategic asset of a firm. The analysis examines a learning supply chain and the relationships between network embeddedness and the strategic mix between exploitation and exploration. Also real options logic as a potential source of new thinking about corporate strategy formulation is examined. Keywords: Knowledge management, embeddedness, learning, real options, food supply chain
