The exurban change project is a collaborative project of the Departments of Agricultural, Environmental & Development Economics and Human and Community Resource Development at The Ohio State University. The co-investigators for the project are Jeff Sharp and Elena IrwinJill Clark manages the project.

Jeff Sharp's area of specialization are community sociology, community development and sociology of agriculture. His research has focused on social characteristics of rural communities and their capacity for engaging in community development activities. He also has done research related to agricultural change in the Midwest. 

Elena Irwin, Associate Professor

Elena Irwin's area of specialization is regional and community economics. Her primary research interests focus on the causes and consequences of growth in local communities and regions, including changes in land use patterns in exurban and rural areas and the influence of public services, landscape amenities, and other factors on residential location decisions.

Jill Clark, Program Manager

Jill Clark's area of specialization is land use policy and planning.  Prior to joining the Department in November 2002, Jill managed American Farmland Trust's Ohio Field Office for three years. American Farmland Trust is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to farmland protection. Jill also spent three years conducting research at the University of Wisconsin's Program on Agricultural Technology Studies and the Wisconsin Land Use Research Program.
