In conjunction with the Canadian Farm Business
Management Council has developed a new course on risk management for both the classroom
and for home study. The new course, entitled Managing Market Risk, is designed to
introduce the concept of market price risk and some of the products to manage risk. This
course is unique in that it brings together various risk management tools in one source
and explains how each one works. This enables the reader to compare risk management tools
and decide which one is right for their operation. The course covers futures, options and
briefly outlines cash contracts, etc. which you could use to manage price risk. There is a
home study version and workshop version, both of which are being revised following
feedback from a number of pilot courses.
