Biographical Info

Dr. Baldwin's primary research interests relate to international and national grain markets. Recent research projects include simulating grain marketing hedging and options strategies and profit levels for eastern and western Corn Belt producers; determining use of discriminate analysis - the set of personal and economic variables that describe the characteristics of the options pilot program participants and nonparticipants; analyzing Ohio 's basis patterns and forward price opportunities; and analyzing the functional relationship between soybean prices and the protein and oil content (value) of soybeans. Extension and outreach work is closely tied to research efforts and focused on state, national and international grain marketing issues including the management of risk and the enhancement of profits for the producer, merchandiser and processor sectors. He delivers applied and theoretical research results to the Ohio and national agribusiness sector via video, Data Transmission Network, various on-line technologies, letter study, CD-ROMs and off-campus workshops and classes. Baldwin is a leader in the development of nationally focused risk management software and training programs.
