Study Abroad Program

The Office of International Education promotes Study Abroad opportunities for OSU students. Faculty from  our College and Department participate in the following programs: China, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, the Czech Republic, and Swaziland. Students can earn 15 credit hours for the Study Abroad Program.  All classes are taught in English and prior knowledge of that country's language is not required.

For all five study tours, a minimum of a 2.7 GPA is required.  Students will be housed in double rooms with shared bathroom facilities.  Meals are served on campus or are left to the choice of the student.  A Resident Director from OSU will accompany the groups.

The Dominican Republic program is for six weeks during Winter Quarter.  Students will study at the Superior de Agricultura (ISA). It is suggested that applicants have one previous course in Spanish (Spanish 101 or equivalent) prior to departure for the Dominican Republic study tour.

During Spring Quarter, students can travel to China and study at the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (China's premier institution for programs in agriculture). Summer Quarter provides tours to Prague Agricultural University in The Czech Republic, Mexico, and Swaziland.  For the Czech Republic and China study tours, it is strongly recommended that students complete AED Econ 200 or Econ 200 prior to departure.

Fees are approximately $3100, with the exact amount depending on the program.  This includes room, board, tuition, and program excursions.  It does not include airfare or personal expenses.  Limited scholarship assistance is available on a competitive basis.  For more information, contact the Office of International Programs in Agriculture (292-7252) or the Office of International Education, Oxley Hall (292-6101).
